It's snowing again!

I can't believe it has snowed twice in one week in Texas.

The girls built a snowman.

I love winter!

Reasons to Celebrate

Today we celebrated the birth of our Savior and Monty's 4 month post surgery anniversary. We definitely have so much to be thankful for. My mom, my sister and her family, and Monty's mom came over on Christmas Eve. As the snow continued to fall, both of our moms opted to spend the night. After staying up way to late, the girls woke us up much to early to see what "Santa" brought. Afterwards we put the ham in the oven and started cooking lunch. We had a yummy meal complete with cupcakes the girls and I made for Jesus' birthday. Shortly after lunch, the ice melted enough that our moms could get home safely. We spent the rest of the day sitting by the fireplace and resting. Tonight we celebrated Monty's recovery from surgery. We watched a couple of Christmas movies and had a Rockband concert on the Wii. The girls even had their dad playing the guitar at one point. Monty is still going to cardiac rehab 3 times a week. He has about 5 weeks left. He still has not made the progress that he had hoped for. He continues to have numbness, tingling, and poor circulation in his feet. He has decided to see a neurologist. His blood pressure is often a little low or a tad high. It is all a matter of getting his medicine regulated. Hopefully that will happen soon. It was a fun day and a good time to reflect on the two most inportant things - Christ and family.

Monty's Surprise

The girls decided to surprise their dad with a "gift" when he got home from work.
They thought it was the greatest idea ever!

Christmas Wish Picture

Here is a picture from the Christmas wish that I posted about a few days ago. We met Makayla's teacher and her family, the Gocke family who granted the wish, and several employees from the school Sunday afternoon. Makayla was so excited to have the nomination she sent in for her teacher selected .

Christmas Wish

I have an exciting story to share. Let me start by telling you that Makayla's teacher has breast cancer for the 2nd time. Makayla absolutely loves her and looks forward to going to school each day. A few weeks ago, Monty, Makayla, Makenzie, and I were on our way home from Fort Worth. We were listening to KLTY in the car and we listened as they granted someone a Christmas wish. Makayla began to ask questions about the Christmas wish. I explained to her that it was for people who are going through hard times. She immediately thought about her teacher. When we got home, I helped her submit an email to the KLTY Christmas Wish program. I know they receive thousands of nominations and never expected to hear anything. Yesterday I checked my cell phone at lunch and had a voicemail from a man that wanted to grant Makayla's Christmas wish. He said that he went to KLTY and read through hundreds of wish requests and he chose Makayla's. We talked on the phone a couple of times and got all of the details worked out. He called the school this morning and spoke to Makayla's teacher and awarded her a $500 gift card. It was very exciting. Makayla was able to go down to the office with her teacher when she took the call. Makayla has to get her picture made with her teacher and the man that granted the Christmas wish. I will post pictures later this weekend. I am so thankful for this man's generosity and his willingness to share his blessings with others.

December 11th - 16th Anniversary

Today is our 16th anniversary!

Weekend

We had a quiet weekend. We ran a few errands and spent a lot of time inside by the fireplace. It was too cold to do much. Monty felt fairly good. He continues to have pain, numbness and tingling in his feet. Please pray that this subsides soon. I hope you all had a great weekend.
